6/30/09 Year-to-date (Jan-June) total new Social Security retirees continues to skyrocket.
Reasons:
1) Returning US soldiers have lots of sex in 1946
2) Social Security COLA rises to 5.8% this year
3) Unemployment rate this year over 9%
4) Stock market plunges
5) Home prices plunge

May welcomes 90,000 Social Security New Retirees

6/1/09 The number of new Social Security retirees continued to skyrocket in May. 90,000 new retirees in May made May 2009, by far, the record breaking May in the history of the progra. The higher COLA payments seems to be the main attractor. The spike in this year's higher payments is showing up on the income side as seen in today's Income and Spending release.
